Rice Stock

• The April 1, 2003 national rice stock inventory reached 2.24 million metric tons, up 8.0 percent from previous month’s level. Both the households and commercial warehouses posted increments in stock volume by 20.0 and 7.4 percent, respectively. That of NFA’s dropped by 5.8 percent.
• Compared to last year, the present level was higher by 11.2 percent. Those in commercial warehouses and NFA depositories registered significant increases of 15.3 and 31.7 percent, respectively. A very minimal reduction (0.8%) in the household holdings was noted. Imported rice accounted for 67.1 percent of NFA stocks.
• The current rice stock inventory is good for 85-days, with around 39 days supply stored in the households, 19 days in commercial warehouses and 27 days in NFA depositories.

Corn Stock

• The country’s current total corn stock inventory of 238.4 thousand metric tons were 7.9 and 34.8 percent higher than last month and same period last year, respectively.
• Compared to last month and last year’s inventories, household corn stocks increased by 6.4 and 25.4 percent while commercial stocks went up by 9.7 and 46.6 percent, respectively.
• Around 52 percent of the current corn stocks are with the households and 48 percent are with the commercial warehouses. No stock was reported by NFA.
