Gross Domestic Product

Gross Domestic Product posted a quarter-on-quarter growth of 1.2 percent in the first quarter of 2025. Manufacturing; Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; and Construction were the top contributors to the quarter-on-quarter growth.

Among the three major economic sectors, Industry posted the fastest quarter-on-quarter growth of 2.0 percent. This was followed by Agriculture, forestry, and fishing; and Services, which grew quarter-on-quarter by 1.8 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively.

Gross National Income

Gross National Income posted a quarter-on-quarter growth of 1.4 percent in the first quarter of 2025.

Household Final Consumption Expenditure

Household final consumption expenditure grew quarter-on-quarter by 1.0 percent in the first quarter of 2025. The top contributors to the growth were Food and non-alcoholic beverages; Restaurants and hotels; and Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.

Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing

Agriculture, forestry, and fishing posted a quarter-on-quarter growth of 1.8 percent in the first quarter of 2025. This was mainly due to the growth of Sugarcane including muscovado sugar-making in the farm; Poultry and egg production; and Other agricultural crops.

Industry

Industry recorded the fastest quarter-on-quarter growth among the three major economic sectors in the first quarter of 2025 with 2.0 percent. Manufacturing; Construction; Electricity, steam, water and waste management; and Mining and quarrying all posted quarter-on-quarter growths in the same period.

Services

Services posted   a   quarter-on-quarter growth   of   0.8   percent   in   the   first quarter   of   2025. The top contributors to the quarter-on-quarter growth were Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; Information and communication; and Financial and insurance activities.
