This brief quarterly report features the deseasonalized or seasonally adjusted rice production and price data series from first quarter of 2009 to second quarter of 2015 using X-11 ARIMA. The effect of season has been removed from the original data to show at a glance the trend of palay/rice production and prices without being hampered by seasonal movements. |
PRODUCTION
The seasonally adjusted palay production for the second quarter of 2015 was 4.80 million metric tons. It was lower by 0.27 percent from the 4.82 million metric tons output in the preceding quarter.
Significant reductions in output were noted in SOCCSKSARGEN, MIMAROPA, Caraga, Western Visayas and Northern Mindanao. The decline was largely attributed to the decrease in harvest areas and yield due to insufficient water supply and intense heat brought about by dry spell during the reproductive stage of the crop.
