PRODUCTION

In the first quarter of 2022, the seasonally adjusted palay production decreased by -0.7 percent quarter-on-quarter. Production was down to 4.87 million metric tons from 4.91 million metric tons in the fourth quarter of 2021. (Table 1)

Likewise, this quarter’s year-on-year performance on palay production when deseasonalized, was down by -1.4 percent from its same quarter level of 4.94 million metric tons in the previous year. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

 

 

PRICE

This quarter's deseasonalized average farmgate price of palay at PhP 17.31 per kilogram recorded an increase of 0.5 percent relative to its last quarter’s average price of PhP 17.22 per kilogram. Similarly, the deseasonalized average farmgate price for the period January to March 2022 registered an increase of 5.0 percent ; from its previous year's same period average price quotation of PhP 16.49 per kilogram. (Figure 2 and Table 1)
