PRODUCTION

The seasonally adjusted palay production for the first quarter of 2023 at 5.02 million metric tons was 2.6 percent higher than the 4.90 million metric tons output from the preceding quarter. (Table 1)

Year-on-year, this quarter’s palay production when deseasonalized was higher by 157.01 thousand metric tons or by 3.2 percent compared with the previous year’s same quarter level of 4.87 million metric tons. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

PRICE

For this quarter, the seasonally adjusted farmgate price of palay at PhP 17.49 per kilogram recorded a decrease of -4.7 percent from the previous quarter’s farmgate price of PhP 18.35 per kilogram. On the contrary, compared with its previous year’s same period farmgate price of PhP 17.25 per kilogram, the deseasonalized average farmgate price for this quarter expanded by 1.4 percent. (Figure 2 and Table 1)
