In order to assess the effectiveness of Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) Programs and to determine the employability of its graduates, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) conducts the 2017 Study on the Employability of TVET Graduates in November 2017.
 
The 2017 Study will gather data/information from 15,000 graduates of TVET Programs in 2016 to generate statistics on the following:
 
a. employability of TVET graduates
b. profile of TVET Graduates (nature, type of industry and occupational job title of employed graduates)
c. length of job search
d. TVET qualifications that have better chance of employment for the graduates
e. performance of certified TVET graduates vs. non-certified in terms of employment
f. incentives given by employers to employed TVET graduates with competency assessment
g. impact of Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) in terms of certification, employment and income levels of TVET graduates
h. reasons for unemployment and for not joining the labor force 
i. usefulness of other support programs on TVET to raise the employability of graduates
 
Meanwhile, results from the 2015 Study with 2014 as reference year showed the following:
 
• 806,419 TVET graduates were in the labor force as of 2014; 66.2% or 533,874 of these graduates were employed at the time of survey 
• 43% or 144,475 of 336,239 TVET graduates with employers found jobs within   1 to 3 months after training
• there were more employed male TVET graduates (269,811) than female TVET graduates (264,063)
• in terms of employment rate, female TVET graduates had 67.52% better than male counterparts with 64.96%. 
 
A total of Php 3.46 million budget is allocated to support the conduct of the 2017 study. Meanwhile, the results of the survey are scheduled to be released on the 4th week of January 2018.
 
On 2 November 2017, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted the clearance of the 2017 Study on the Employability of TVET Graduates through the Statistical Review Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA No. 10625 to:
 
• ensure sound design for data collection;
• minimize the burden placed upon respondents; 
• effect economy in statistical data collection; 
• eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection; and 
• achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.
