The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has successfully completed its First Surveillance Audit to assess its Quality Management System (QMS) based on ISO 9001:2015 standards, conducted by the internationally recognized certification body, TUV NORD. The audit, which commenced on 21 March 2025, concluded with a resounding recommendation for the PSA to maintain its certification, having identified neither minor nor major non-conformities.

The audit spanned across all 111 PSA sites nationwide, encompassing 100 existing and 11 expansion sites. TUV NORD meticulously assessed a wide range of the PSA's core operations, including the Provision of Statistical and PhilSys Planning, Policy, and Standards Development; Statistical Operations; Civil Registration Operations; and PhilSys Operations, along with management and support processes.

A representative sample of 23 sites, comprising 17 existing and 6 expansion sites, underwent rigorous scrutiny during the audit. The primary objective of this independent evaluation was to verify the ongoing effectiveness of the PSA's established QMS. The surveillance audit also provided the PSA with valuable insights for enhancing its internal control procedures and implementing timely and targeted interventions. This focus on continuous improvement will be critical in ensuring the sustained integrity of the agency’s systems in future audits. Furthermore, the audit highlighted the importance of strategically updating and strengthening the PSA’s network of QMS focal persons across all its operating units.

The TUV NORD’s affirmation of the PSA’s ISO 9001:2015 certification underscores the agency’s steadfast commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to globally recognized quality standards. The PSA’s QMS remains the foundation of its promise to provide reliable, relevant, and high-quality statistics, seamless civil registration services, and an inclusive national identification system that empowers every Filipino citizen.
