The value of production in agriculture and fisheries at constant 2018 prices decreased by -2.6 percent in the third quarter of 2021. This was due to the drop in crops, livestock, and fisheries production. Meanwhile, poultry recorded increment in production. (Table 2a and Figure 1)

Crop production, which contributed 54.0 percent to the total agriculture and fisheries production, contracted by -0.2 percent. Palay production increased by 6.7 percent while corn production declined by -18.6 percent. (Tables 2a, 2b, and 3a)

Livestock, which accounted for 15.3 percent of the total agriculture and fisheries production, recorded a -15.2 percent reduction in production. Hog, the major contributor for livestock production, decreased by -17.8 percent. (Tables 2a, 2c, and 3a)

Poultry production grew by 1.3 percent. It shared 14.6 percent in the total agriculture and fisheries production. Production of chicken eggs and duck eggs increased by 8.1 percent and 7.0 percent, respectively. (Tables 2a, 2c, and 3a)

Fisheries, with a 16.2 percent contribution to the total agriculture and fisheries production, declined by -0.4 percent. Two-digit declines in production were recorded for bigeye tuna (tambakol/bariles) at -41.1 percent, blue crab (alimasag) at -22.1 percent, frigate tuna (tulingan) at -21.1 percent, yellowfin tuna (tambakol/bariles) at -19.9 percent, threadfin bream (bisugo) at -19.1 percent, slipmouth (sapsap) at -12.4 percent, and skipjack (gulyasan) and roundscad (galunggong) at -11.8 percent each. (Tables 2a, 2d, and 3a)              

At current prices, the value of production in agriculture and fisheries which amounted to PhP 446.46 billion was 5.2 percent higher than the previous year’s level. (Tables 4a and 5a)
