In the second quarter of 2024, the volume of crops production was estimated at 15.56 million metric tons. This was 13.0 percent lower than the previous year same quarter output of 17.88 million metric tons. The annual decline in the volume of crops production during the quarter was mainly brought about by the annual decreases noted in the production of sugarcane, palay, and corn at 42.3 percent, 9.5 percent, and 20.3 percent, respectively. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

The volume of livestock production from April to June 2024 was registered at 539.33 thousand metric tons. This indicates an annual decrease of 0.2 percent relative to the same quarter of the previous year with production level of 540.46 thousand metric tons. The top contributor to this decrement was carabao production, which dropped by 2.4 percent annually. (Figure 2 and Table 2)

In the second quarter of 2024, poultry production was estimated at 739.72 thousand metric tons, reflecting an increase of 8.7 percent from the previous year’s same period level of 680.50 thousand metric tons. Chicken production, with a 70.4 percent share to the total volume of poultry production, grew by 8.9 percent. It primarily contributed to the annual increment of poultry production during the period. (Figure 3 and Table 2)

The volume of fisheries production was posted at 1.02 million metric tons during the second quarter of 2024. It diminished by 6.2 percent from 1.08 million metric tons output in the same quarter of 2023. The decline in the volume of fisheries production during the period was mainly noted in seaweed at 25.8 percent, roundscad (galunggong) at 13.6 percent, and big-eyed scad (matangbaka) at 22.3 percent. (Figure 4 and Table 3)
