In the third quarter of 2023, the volume of crops production was recorded at 16.57 million metric tons. This exhibits an annual decline of 3.1 percent compared with the 17.11 million metric tons in the same period of the previous year. The annual decline in the volume of crop production during the quarter was mainly brought about by the annual decreases noted in the production of sugarcane (-26.4%), coconut (-1.9%), rubber, cuplump (-12.7%), and cassava (-3.0%). (Figure 1 and Table 1)

The volume of livestock production from July to September 2023 was registered at 558.15 thousand metric tons. This indicates an annual increase of 2.3 percent relative to the same quarter of the previous year with production level at 545.73 thousand metric tons. The top contributor to this increment was hog production, which grew by 3.3 percent annually. (Figure 2 and Table 2)

In the third quarter of 2023, poultry production was estimated at 670.48 thousand metric tons, reflecting an annual increase of 2.9 percent compared with the previous year’s same period level of 651.65 thousand metric tons. Chicken production, with a 69.3 percent share to the total volume of poultry production, grew by 2.3 percent. This primarily contributed to the annual increment of poultry production during the period. (Figure 3 and Table 2)

The volume of fisheries production was posted at 1,017.50 thousand metric tons during the third quarter of 2023. It grew by 2.1 percent from the 996.31 thousand metric tons output in the same quarter of 2022. The annual increase in the volume of fisheries production during the period was mainly driven by the annual increments noted in seaweed (14.0%), big-eyed scad (matangbaka, 32.8%), roundscad (galunggong, 17.2%), yellowfin tuna (tambakol/bariles, 28.5%), and indian mackerel (alumahan, 60.6%). (Figure 4 and Table 3)
