In the fourth quarter of 2023, the volume of crops production was recorded at 27.46 million metric tons. This exhibits an annual increase of 2.6 percent from the 26.77 million metric tons output in the same period of the previous year. The annual increase in the volume of crops production during the quarter was mainly brought about by the annual increase noted in the production of sugarcane at 10.5 percent. (Figure 1 and Table 1)
The volume of livestock production from October to December 2023 was registered at 616.03 thousand metric tons. This indicates an annual increase of 2.7 percent relative to the same quarter of the previous year with production level of 599.75 thousand metric tons. The top contributor to this increment was hog production, which grew by 3.7 percent annually. (Figure 2 and Table 2)
In the fourth quarter of 2023, poultry production was estimated at 743.27 thousand metric tons, reflecting an increase of 7.8 percent from the previous year’s same period level of 689.65 thousand metric tons. Chicken production, with a 71.8 percent share to the total volume of poultry production, grew by 8.1 percent. This primarily contributed to the annual increment of poultry production during the period. (Figure 3 and Table 2)
The volume of fisheries production was posted at 1.17 million metric tons during the fourth quarter of 2023. It grew by 1.4 percent from the 1.15 million metric tons output in the same quarter of 2022. The annual increase in the volume of fisheries production during the period was mainly driven by the annual increment noted in seaweed at 12.8 percent. (Figure 4 and Table 3)
