Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” G. Robredo successfully completed Step 2 Registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) on Monday morning, 03 May 2021 in the municipality of Magarao, Camarines Sur. It is one of the select municipalities in the 32 priority provinces for PhilSys registration.

The Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) Provincial Statistical Office in Camarines Sur reported that the Vice President completed Step 2 Registration, which involves the capture of the registrant’s biometric data such as their fingerprints, iris scans, and front-facing photograph, in about 12 minutes without technical difficulties after queuing with other local registrants.

Step 2 Registration began in January 2021 and continues to roll out on a gradual, small-scale basis in the priority provinces. As of 30 April 2021, a total of 6,378,695 registrants have completed the Step 2 Registration. These individuals underwent the assisted Step 1 Registration or the house-to-house collection of demographic data, and setting of appointment for Step 2.

Meanwhile, the PhilSys portal for pilot online Step 1 Registration was launched last 30 April 2021. The setting of appointment for Step 2 Registration will be available soon through the PhilSys portal.

The final step of PhilSys registration will involve the issuance of the PhilSys Number (PSN) and the Philippine Identification (PhilID) card. The PSN is a randomly generated number and will serve as a permanent identification number for every registrant used for digital transactions. PSA partnered with PHLPost for the delivery of the PSN and PhilID to successful registrants.
