Major Fruit Crops Quarterly Bulletin, April-June 2018

April 2018 to June 2018

  • For the second quarter of 2018, calamansi production declined by 3.0 percent, from 18.95 thousand metric tons last year to 18.39 thousand metric tons. The decline was caused by:
    • decrease in area and bearing trees due to cutting of old and less productive trees in Zamboanga Peninsula; and
    • smaller fruits produced due to aphids and extreme heat; delayed fruiting/harvesting in some farms and cutting of senile trees in Central Luzon.
  • MIMAROPA remained the top producer region of calamansi with 37.6 percent share to the total national production. Zamboanga Peninsula ranked second with 13.4 percent share and Central Luzon with 11.2 percent.
