PSA Issues Updates on Women and Men in the Philippines

In support of the celebration of Women’s Month every March, the Philippine Statistics Authority issues a Factsheet on Women and Men in the Philippines, which presents the latest statistics on women and men in the country. This year’s edition contains 100 indicators covering 15 socio-economic sectors and gender concerns, namely: 1) Population; 2) Education; 3) Health and Nutrition; 4) Family Income and Expenditures; 5) Work and Economic Participation; 6) Agriculture; 7) Public Life; 8) Sustainable Development Goals, specifically on Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 5 (Gender Equality); 9) Tourism; 10) Social Welfare and Development; 11) Trade and Industry; 12) Violence Against Women; 13) Child Abuse; 14) Filipino Youth; and 15) Women Empowerment. A comparison among ASEAN countries in some indicators disaggregated by sex is also available.

The Factsheet, which can be accessed through the link, includes data from the latest surveys, statistical reports, and publications such as the 2020 Labor Force Survey, 2019 Survey on Overseas Filipinos, 2018 Family Income and Expenditure Survey, 2017 National Demographic and Health Survey, among others, and from administrative data sources such as the business name registration from the Department of Trade and Industry, and number of cases served by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, among others. It hopes to provide relevant and user-friendly information on gender issues that are deemed important to planners, researchers, and other users for evidence-based gender and development advocacy, planning, programming, and policy setting.
