Gross Value Added in Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing

Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (AHFF)

AHFF expanded by 3.1 percent in the third quarter of 2019, compared with the contraction of 0.03 percent in the same period of 2018. It contributed 0.2 percentage point to the GDP growth.

Agriculture recovers

The Agriculture industry, which accounted for 81.6 percent of the total AHFF, bounced back with a 3.4 percent growth in the third quarter of 2019. Major contributors to the industry’s growth were:  Corn, 24.1 percent; Poultry, 8.4 percent; Agricultural Activities and Services, 3.9 percent; Livestock 1.7 percent; and Other Crops, 2.0 percent.

Meanwhile, the following sub-industries pulled down the growth of Agriculture:  Palay, 4.2 percent; Sugarcane, 60.0 percent; Banana, 1.5 percent; Cassava, 1.4 percent; Rubber, 3.4 percent; and Coffee, 0.4 percent.

Forestry decelerates

Forestry grew by 17.3 percent, slower than the 37.3 percent growth recorded in the same period of the previous year.

Fishing inches up

Fishing, with a share of 17.4 percent to the total AHFF, bounced back with a 1.0 percent growth from a decline of 0.9 percent in the previous year.
