Gross Value Added in Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing

Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (AHFF)

AHFF grew by 1.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 as compared with the 2.4 percent increment in the same period of 2017.

Agriculture slows down

Agriculture, which shared 82.2 percent to the total AHFF inched up by 1.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018, lower than the 3.0 percent growth in the same period in the previous year. Gainers which contributed to the increase of the industry were as follows: Poultry, 7.0 percent; Corn, 10.8 percent; Livestock, 1.6 percent; Agriculture Activities and Services, 2.1 percent; Coconut, 3.5 percent; Other crops, 1.6 percent; Pineapple, 1.1 percent; Banana, 0.7 percent; Rubber, 3.2 percent; Coffee, 0.8 percent; and Mango, 0.5 percent.

On the other hand, Palay declined by 2.2 percent and pulled down the growth of Agriculture industry. Sugarcane and Cassava likewise weakened with 2.2 percent and 1.4 percent drop, respectively.

Forestry recovers

Forestry upturned with an increase of 6.7 percent in the fourth quarter, from a 14.4 percent decline in the same period of 2017.

Fishing improves

Fishing, which contributed 17.7 percent of the total AHFF, expanded by 1.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 from a 0.1 percent decline in the same period of the previous year.
