Gross Value Added in Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing

Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (AHFF)

AHFF, which accounted for 7.1 percent of the total GDP, inched up by 0.6 percent in the second quarter of 2019, an acceleration from the 0.3 percent increment in the same period of 2018.

Agriculture slows down anew

Agriculture, which shared 83.5 percent of the total AHFF, recorded a slight increase of 0.1 percent in the second quarter of 2019. Contributing to the growth were: Other Crops, 11.9 percent; Agricultural Activities and Services, 7.6 percent; Livestock, 3.2 percent; Poultry, 4.1 percent; Mango, 6.2 percent; Rubber, 5.0 percent; and Pineapple, 0.8 percent.

Meanwhile, the declines in the following industries pulled down the growth of Agriculture: Palay, 5.5 percent; Sugarcane, 35.8 percent; Corn, 8.4 percent; Banana, 4.1 percent; Cassava, 7.2 percent; Coffee, 6.3 percent; and Coconut including copra, 0.7 percent.

Forestry slows down

Forestry grew by 2.1 percent, which was slower than the 15.6 percent expansion in the same period of 2018.

Fishing recovers

Fishing, which accounted for 15.7 percent of the total AHFF, expanded by 3.1 percent from the growth of 0.4 percent in the same period of the previous year.
