Release Date:
Reference Number: 2019-004

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is now laying the groundwork for the conduct of the 14th National Convention on Statistics (NCS) in October 2019. This triennial event aims to: (a) provide a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences in the field of statistics and for discussing recent statistical developments and prevailing issues and problems of the PSS; and (b) elicit the cooperation and support of statisticians and professionals in related fields from the government, academe and private sector towards a more responsive statistical system.

As the 14th NCS coincides with the celebration of the 30th National Statistics Month (NSM), the PSA is looking forward to greater participation from statisticians, statistical practitioners, and data users and producers to discuss and share ideas and recommendations that are geared towards a more responsive and innovative Philippine Statistical System (PSS).

Meanwhile, the 13th NCS was conducted in October 2016 and was attended by 970 participants from the government, private sector, academia, media, and international organizations. A total of 137 papers were presented in 53 sessions which included two (2) plenary sessions, 41 invited paper sessions, six (6) contributed paper sessions, one (1) panel discussion, and three (3) special sessions on disaster statistics.

On behalf of the PSS, the PSA is now calling on practitioners, theoreticians, and researchers in the statistical and related fields to participate in the 14th NCS. Guidelines on the sessions, topics, format of the papers, registration, and further details and announcements will be disseminated and posted on the NCS website at http://www.psa.gov.ph/ncs/14th.
