Cacao

  • Production of cacao (dried beans with pulp) for this quarter increased from 3.08 thousand metric tons in the same period of the previous year to its current level of 3.16 thousand metric tons, which recorded a growth of 2.6 percent.
  • Davao region remained the major producer of cacao with 2.53 thousand metric tons or 80.2 percent of the country’s total cacao production for this quarter.
  • From July to December 2022, the area planted with cacao was 32.22 thousand hectares, or went up by 2.4 percent compared with the same period of last year’s area planted of 31.64 thousand hectares.
