  • Production of tobacco dried leaves from January to March 2022 declined to 9.06 thousand metric tons or by -24.1 percent, from 11.93 thousand metric tons output in the same period of 2021.
  • Virginia tobacco was the most produced variety which contributed 95.8 percent to the total produce during the period. This was followed by Native and Other tobacco (Burley) with 2.8 and 1.4 percent shares, respectively.
  • The highest tobacco-producing region for this quarter was Ilocos Region, which produced 7.85 thousand metric tons or 86.6 percent share to the total tobacco production.
