BEWARE: PhilSys scammers
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) advises the public to beware of sites and pages posing as representatives of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). PSA has compiled a list of fake sites and service providers, as listed below:
- National ID Online Registration - Government Organization
- National ID Online Registration Assistance - Public Group
- Lang Lang Nocses
- Naic Cavite Buy and Sell
- Paniqui-Tarlac-Moncada-Anao-Gerona-Ramos Buy En Sell
- Tarlac Bentahan Online
- Subcon and Supplies for Garments & Small Businesses
- PhilSys National ID - blog
The PSA reminds the public that only the official PhilSys website (philsys.gov.ph) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/PSAPhilSysOfficial) provide legitimate information about the PhilSys registration process and ID issuance. PSA warns registrants not to trust any third parties with their personal information and only disclose this information to the official online registration platform found in the PhilSys portal. Fake sites and third-party providers, such as Buy and Sell pages, do not operate with this security. Thus, these are prone to data leaks and misuse.
Registration to PhilSys is free of charge. Therefore, registrants must not spare any expense under any circumstances during the duration of the three-step registration process. Further, asking registrants for a fee violates the Republic Act No. 11055 otherwise known as the PhilSys Act.
All information collected through the official PhilSys website is protected by law under the Data Privacy Act of 2021. The PSA assures the public that this is under investigation to weed out similar parties providing scam sign-up processes and misinformation on the PhilSys registration.
