|All Items||September 2013||August 2013||Year-to-date|
The annual growth in the construction materials retail price index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) picked-up 1.9 percent in September from 1.8 percent in August. A higher annual uptick was noted in electrical materials index at 1.7 percent in September from 1.2 percent in August; masonry materials index, 6.2 percent from 5.6 percent; tinsmithry materials index, 6.3 percent from 6.0 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials index, 1.4 percent from -1.7 percent. On the other hand, the annual increment in carpentry materials index slowed down to 0.5 percent from 1.1 percent; painting materials and related compounds index, 0.1 percent from 0.8 percent; and plumbing materials index, 1.5 percent from 1.8 percent.
The CMRPI in NCR recorded a zero growth in September due to the offsetting price adjustments among the commodity groups. Higher monthly rates were observed in electrical and miscellaneous construction materials indices at 0.4 percent and 1.0 percent, respectively from their corresponding last month’s rates of -0.1 percent and -1.0 percent. The 0.1 percent increase in tinsmithry materials index was however slower than the 0.2 percent growth last month. The rest of the commodity groups posted negative rates during the month in review.
Price add-ons were noted in selected wiring devices, tinsmithry materials and steel bars. On the contrary, downward price adjustments were seen in plywood, nails, cement, paints and GI pipes.
