  • Month-on-Month

The Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) moved up at a faster pace of 0.2 percent in June from -0.6 percent in May. This can be attributed to the 10.9 percent gain in the prices of fuels and lubricants from 2.7 percent. In addition, higher price movements were registered in asphalt at 8.8 percent from zero growth; hardware, 0.6 percent from 0.1 percent; and reinforcing steel, 0.2 percent from -2.3 percent. On the other hand, slower monthly increments were observed in cement, lumber and G.I. sheets. Prices of materials in the other commodity groups generally remained stable as they posted a zero growth this month.

  • Year-on-Year

The year-on-year growth rate of the CMWPI in NCR slowed down to 4.4 percent in June from 9.0 percent in May. Annual price decreases were correspondingly noticed in fuels and lubricants and structural steel at -25.1 percent and -4.2 percent, respectively. Similarly slower rates were noted in the price additions of most of the commodity groups. However, a higher annual rate was recorded in the prices of asphalt. The rest of the commodity groups retained their last monthÒ³ annual growth rates while that for blasting materials and machinery and equipment rental was zero.

    NOTE :

Revisions of the monthly series from December 2007 to May 2008 were made due to the updates made by the official source on machinery and equipment rental rates last June 25, 2008.
