Annual growth rate of CMWPI in NCR remained at 0.3 percent in October 2024

The year-on-year growth rate of CMWPI in NCR remained at 0.3 percent for the third consecutive month in October 2024. In October 2023, its annual growth rate was registered at 1.4 percent. (Figure 1, and Tables A and 2)

Compared with their respective annual growth rates in September 2024, faster annual increments were observed in the indices of hardware at 0.7 percent in October 2024 from 0.5 percent in the previous month, plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks at 1.2 percent in the current month from 1.1 percent in September 2024, and painting works at 0.6 percent in October 2024 from 0.5 percent in the previous month. Moreover, an annual increase was recorded in the index of lumber at 0.3 percent in the current month from a 0.1 percent annual decline in September 2024.

On the other hand, faster annual declines were recorded in the indices of sand and gravel at 0.4 percent in October 2024 from 0.3 percent annual drop in the previous month, cement at 2.0 percent in the current month from 1.9 percent annual decline in September 2024, and fuels and lubricants at 2.1 percent in October 2024 from 0.8 percent annual drop in the previous month.

The indices of the rest of the commodity groups either retained their respective September 2024 annual rates or had zero percent annual rates during the month. (Table 2)
