By Commodity Group, Month-on-Month

On a monthly basis, the GRPI for all items in NCR decreased by 0.1 percent in November from 0.4 growth in October.

  • A negative rate of 0.2 percent was noted in the heavily-weighted food index. This was due to the downward adjustments in the prices of selected vegetables such as pechay, cabbage, tomatoes, ampalaya, baguio beans, stringbeans and camote.

  • Likewise, the index of crude materials, inedible except fuels went down by 0.2 percent as the price of gravel was on the downtrend.

  • Price roll-backs were noted in gasoline and kerosene. Thus, the index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials dropped by 0.2 percent during the month in review.

  • The manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials index fell by 0.1 percent from zero growth as prices of GI sheets, sand and plywood were pegged lower during the month.

  • Price cuts in electrical wire and wiring devices pulled down the index of machinery and transport equipment by 0.1 percent from an increment of 0.2 percent last month.

  • The index of beverages and tobacco went up 0.1 percent. It resulted from price upticks in liquors, wines and softdrinks.

  • Upward adjustments in the prices of selected paints and related compounds raised the index for chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats by 0.2 percent from 0.1 percent.

  • No movement was seen in the miscellaneous manufactured articles index as it posted a zero growth in November from 0.1 percent last month.
