June 2020 - June 2021
GRPI in NCR slowed down in June 2021
The annual increment of GRPI in NCR eased to 1.8 percent in June 2021, after five consecutive months of acceleration. In May 2021, its annual growth rate was posted at 2.1 percent and in June 2020, 1.3 percent. (Tables A and 2)
The slowdown in the annual growth rate was mainly due to the slower annual increase registered in the index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials at 13.6 percent in June 2021, from 20.3 percent in May 2021.
Annual hikes also decelerated during the month in the indices of food at 1.7 percent; beverages and tobacco, 6.1 percent; and crude materials, inedible except fuels, 1.6 percent.
Meanwhile, a higher annual uptick of 0.9 percent in June 2021 was noted in the index of chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats.
The rest of the commodity groups retained their May 2021 annual growth rates. (Table 2)
