GWPI

1. GWPI at the national level moves up at a faster pace in June 2020

The year-on-year change of GWPI at the country level climbed by 2.5 percent in June 2020. The annual rate in the previous month was 1.9 percent and in June 2019, 1.7 percent. (Tables A and 2)

Annual growth rates were higher in the indices of food at 5.0 percent; beverages and tobacco, 6.9 percent; and crude materials, inedible except fuels, 22.8 percent than their respective annual rates in the previous month. In addition, the annual rates in the indices of chemicals including animal and vegetable oils and fats and miscellaneous manufactured articles correspondingly rose by 0.6 percent and 0.9 percent.

On the other hand, annual increases were slower in the indices of manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials at 1.0 percent; and machinery and transport equipment, 0.5 percent, while that for the index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials dropped by 7.0 percent during the month. 2. GWPI in Luzon posts higher annual increase during the month

The annual growth rate of GWPI in Luzon, likewise accelerated by 2.8 percent in June 2020. Its annual growth in May 2020 was posted at 2.1 percent and in June 2019, 1.6 percent. (Tables A and 2)

Annual add-ons were higher in the indices of food at 5.6 percent; beverages and tobacco, 6.4 percent; and crude materials, inedible except fuels, 24.0 percent. Moreover, upward movements in the annual growth rates were observed in the indices of chemicals including animal and vegetable oils and fats at 0.6 percent; and miscellaneous manufactured articles at 0.9 percent, from their previous month’s respective annual declines of 1.4 percent and 0.2 percent.

Meanwhile, annual gains were slower in the indices of manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials; and machinery and transport equipment at 1.1 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively. The index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials dropped at an annual rate of 6.5 percent. (Table 2)

3. GWPI in Visayas climbs in June 2020

The annual change of GWPI in Visayas went up by 0.8 percent in June 2020. In the previous month, its annual rate was recorded at 0.4 percent and in June 2019, 2.2 percent. (Tables A and 2)

The crude materials, inedible except fuels index exhibited a higher annual hike of 12.5 percent. In addition, the annual rate of food index rose by 1.2 percent, from an annual decline of 0.2 percent in the previous month.

On the other hand, annual increases slowed down in the indices of beverages and tobacco at 11.1 percent; and chemicals including animal and vegetable oils and fats, 1.6 percent. Moreover, annual rates in the indices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials dropped by 16.5 percent; and manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials, and miscellaneous manufactured articles, both at 0.04 percent.

The annual rate of machinery and transport equipment index remained at 0.3 percent for six consecutive months now. (Table 2)

4. Annual rate of GWPI in Mindanao remains at 1.6 percent

The GWPI in Mindanao retained its previous month’s annual rate of 1.6 percent in June 2020. In June 2019, its annual rate was registered at 1.4 percent. (Tables A and 2)

Annual mark-up in the manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials index was higher at 1.6 percent during the month.

On the other hand, annual increase slowed down in the index of food at 1.4 percent. Moreover, annual rates declined in the indices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials at 2.1 percent; and miscellaneous manufactured articles, 0.6 percent.

For the rest of the commodity groups, they retained their previous month’s annual growth rates. (Table 2)
