Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and Non-FBT Items

  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

    The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR decreased to 129.8 in February from 130.0 in January while that for AONCR went up to 133.9 from 133.8.

    The cold mornings reduced volume of fish catch and production of eggs this month pushing up prices of FBT items in NCR. However, this seasonal factor did not affect prices of FBT items in AONCR relative to the expected trend.

    Measured from a month ago, prices of seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR further dropped to -0.2 percent in February from -0.1 percent in January. Meanwhile, increments in the prices of the seasonally adjusted CPI for FBT items in AONCR was higher at 0.1 percent from a negative rate of -0.1 percent last month.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)


The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR went down to 150.2 in February from 150.8 in January. On the other hand, the seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in AONCR picked up to 144.5 in February from 144.4 in January.

The monthly rate of change of the seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR declined by -0.4 percent in February from 0.1 percent growth in January while that in AONCR moved upward at a slower pace of 0.1 percent from its previous month's growth rate of 0.2 percent.
