Seasonally Adjusted Consumer Price Index (2018=100): April 2025
1. Philippines
The country’s seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items recorded a month-on-month decrement of 0.1 percent in September 2024. The same rate was observed in August 2024.
Likewise, monthly decreases were noted in the seasonally adjusted CPI of food and non-alcoholic beverages at 0.3 percent, and transport at 1.2 percent from their respective monthly decrements of 0.6 percent and 1.5 percent in the previous month.
In addition, slower monthly increases during the month were observed in the deseasonalized indices of clothing and footwear at 0.2 percent from 0.3 percent in the previous month, and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at 0.2 percent in September 2024 from 0.8 percent in the previous month.
On the other hand, the seasonally adjusted CPI for health recorded a faster month-on-month increment of 0.3 percent during the month from 0.1 percent in August 2024.
The deseasonalized indices of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, and personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services remained at their previous month’s increases, both at 0.2 percent.
The seasonal factors, such as the degree of demand for selected goods and services during the season, pulled down the indices of the following:
a. All items;
b. Food and non-alcoholic beverages;
c. Clothing and footwear;
d. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels;
e. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance;
f. Health; and
g. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services.
However, the seasonal factors pushed up the transport index. (Table 1)
2. National Capital Region (NCR)
In NCR, the deseasonalized CPI for all items posted a monthly increment of 0.2 percent in September 2024 from a month-on-month decline of 0.4 percent in August 2024.
Likewise, the seasonally adjusted CPI of food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded a month-on-month increase of 0.4 percent during the period from a monthly decrement of 0.9 percent in the previous month.
Moreover, the monthly rate of the deseasonalized CPI for personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services recorded faster month-on-month increment of 0.3 percent in September 2024 from 0.1 percent in August 2024.
On the other hand, slower monthly increments were observed in the deseasonalized indices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at 0.3 percent in September 2024 from 0.5 percent in August 2024, and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance at 0.1 percent from 0.3 percent in the previous month.
Meanwhile, the health index retained its previous month’s increment of 0.2 percent.
The seasonal factors, such as the degree of demand for selected goods and services during the season, pulled down the indices of the following:
a. All items;
b. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels;
c. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance;
d. Health; and
e. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services.
However, it did not affect the index of food and non-alcoholic beverages. (Table 2)
3. Areas Outside National Capital Region (AONCR)
In AONCR, the seasonally adjusted CPI for all items posted a monthly decline of 0.3 percent in September 2024 from a month-on-month increment of 0.1 percent in August 2024.
The deseasonalized CPI for food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded a monthly drop of 0.6 percent from a zero monthly rate in the previous month.
Month-on-month decrements were also observed in the seasonally adjusted CPI of transport at 1.3 percent from a monthly drop of 1.6 percent in August 2024, and education services at 0.2 percent during the month from a monthly increase of 1.5 percent in August 2024.
In addition, slower monthly increments were noted in the seasonally adjusted CPI of the following commodity groups during the month:
a. Clothing and footwear, 0.1 percent from 0.3 percent;
b. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, 0.1 percent from 1.0 percent;
c. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, 0.1 percent from 0.3 percent; and
d. Restaurants and accommodation services, 0.1 percent from 0.3 percent.
However, faster monthly increase in the deseasonalized CPI for health was recorded at 0.4 percent in September 2024 from 0.1 percent in the previous month.
The seasonal factors, such as the degree of demand for selected goods and services, pulled down the indices of the following during the month:
a. All items;
b. Food and non-alcoholic beverages;
c. Clothing and footwear;
d. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels;
e. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance;
f. Health; and
g. Restaurants and accommodation services.
The seasonal factors, however, pushed up the indices of transport and education services. (Table 3)
