Seasonally Adjusted Consumer Price Index (2018=100): November 2024

1. Philippines

The seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items in the Philippines registered a faster month-on-month increase of 0.2 percent in November 2024 from 0.1 percent in October 2024.

Likewise, faster month-on-month increments in November 2024 were observed in the deseasonalized indices of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance at 0.4 percent and personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services at 0.3 percent from their corresponding monthly rates of 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent in the previous month.

From a zero percent monthly rate recorded in the previous month, the seasonally adjusted CPI for transport inched up to 0.3 percent in November 2024.

In contrast, slower monthly increment was noted in the deseasonalized CPI of food and non-alcoholic beverages at 0.2 percent during the month from 0.4 percent in October 2024.

Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted indices for the following commodity groups retained their respective October 2024 monthly rates:

          a. Clothing and footwear at 0.1 percent;
          b. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at -0.2 percent; and
          c. Health at 0.2 percent.

The seasonal factors, such as the degree of demand for selected goods and services during the season, did not affect the index for all items.

However, these seasonal factors pushed up the indices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, and transport.

On the other hand, it pulled down the indices of the following commodity groups:

          a. Clothing and footwear;    
          b. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels;   
          c. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance;   
          d. Health; and 
          e. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services. (Table 1)


2. National Capital Region (NCR)              

The deseasonalized CPI for all items in NCR recorded a month-on-month increment of 0.7 percent in November 2024 from a monthly decline of 0.4 percent in October 2024.

Similarly, monthly upticks were posted in the deseasonalized indices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels during the period at 1.4 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively, both from 0.5 percent month-on-month decrement in October 2024.

In addition, the seasonally adjusted CPI for personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services registered a faster monthly increase of 0.4 percent in November 2024 from 0.2 percent last month.

On the other hand, slower month-on-month increment was noted in the deseasonalized index of health at 0.1 percent from 0.2 percent in October 2024.

The seasonally adjusted CPI for furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance recorded a zero percent monthly rate in November 2024 from an increase of 0.2 percent in the previous month.

The seasonal factors, such as the degree of demand for selected goods and services during the season, pushed up the indices of all items and food and non-alcoholic beverages.

However, it pulled down the indices of the following commodity groups:

          a. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels;
          b. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance;  
          c. Health; and 
          d. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services. (Table 2)  
 

3. Areas Outside National Capital Region (AONCR)

In AONCR, the seasonally adjusted CPI for all items recorded a monthly rate of zero percent in November 2024 from a month-on-month increase of 0.3 percent in October 2024.

Slower month-on-month increments during the month were noted in the deseasonalized indices of food and non-alcoholic beverages and transport at 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively, from their corresponding monthly rates of 0.6 percent and 0.3 percent in the previous month.

Moreover, a faster month-on-month decrease of 0.5 percent was recorded in the deseasonalized CPI for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels in November 2024 from 0.2 percent monthly decrease in October 2024.

In contrast, faster monthly increases were observed in the deseasonalized indices of the following commodity groups:

          a. Clothing and footwear, 0.2 percent from 0.1 percent;
          b. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, 0.5 percent from 0.2 percent; and
          c. Health, 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent.

The seasonally adjusted indices for education services and restaurants and accommodation services maintained their corresponding monthly rates in the previous month of 0.1 percent and 0.3 percent.

The seasonal factors, such as the degree of demand for selected goods and services, pulled down the indices of the following during the month: 

          a. All items;    
          b. Clothing and footwear;     
          c. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels;  
          d. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance;    
          e. Health; and  
          f.  Restaurants and accommodation services.

The seasonal factors, however, pushed up the indices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, transport, and education services. (Table 3)
