Seasonally Adjusted Consumer Price Index (2018=100): April 2025
1. Philippines
The seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items in the Philippines registered a month-on-month decrement of 0.1 percent in January 2025 from a monthly increase 0.5 percent in December 2024.
Likewise, monthly declines were observed in the deseasonalized indices of food and non-alcoholic beverages at 0.1 percent during the month from a monthly uptick of 0.4 percent in December 2024, and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at 0.4 percent from a monthly uptick of 0.7 percent in December 2024.
Slower month-on-month increment was observed in the seasonally adjusted CPI of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance at 0.1 percent in January 2025 from 0.2 percent in December 2024.
From their corresponding monthly increases in the previous month at 0.4 percent and 0.3 percent, the deseasonalized indices of restaurants and accommodation services, and personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services both exhibited zero growth rate in January 2025.
Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted indices for the following commodity groups recorded the same monthly rate observed in December 2024:
a. Clothing and footwear at 0.1 percent;
b. Health at 0.2 percent; and
c. Education services at 0.3 percent.
The seasonal factors, such as the degree of demand for selected goods and services during the season, pushed up the indices of the following:
a. All items;
b. Food and non-alcoholic beverages;
c. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; and
d. Education services.
On the contrary, the seasonal factors pulled down the index of restaurants and accommodation services.
Meanwhile, the seasonal factors did not affect the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Clothing and footwear;
b. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance;
c. Health; and
d. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services. (Table 1)
2. National Capital Region (NCR)
In NCR, the seasonally adjusted CPI for all items exhibited a month-on-month decrease of 0.1 percent in January 2025 from a month-on-month increment of 0.8 percent in December 2024.
Similarly, monthly declines were observed in the deseasonalized indices of the following commodity groups from monthly increments in the previous month:
a. Clothing and footwear, -0.1 percent from 0.1 percent;
b. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, -0.2 percent from 0.1 percent; and
c. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services, -0.2 percent from 0.2 percent.
Meanwhile, slower month-on-month increases in January 2025 were noted in the deseasonalized indices of food and non-alcoholic beverages and transport at 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively, from their corresponding monthly growth rates of 1.0 percent and 1.7 percent in December 2024.
On the other hand, the deseasonalized CPI of education services posted a faster month-on-month increase of 0.6 percent during the month from 0.3 percent in December 2024.
The seasonal factors, such as the degree of demand for selected goods and services during the season, pushed up the indices of the following:
a. All items;
b. Food and non-alcoholic beverages;
c. Clothing and footwear; and
d. Education services.
In contrast, the seasonal factors pulled down the indices of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, and transport.
Meanwhile, the seasonal factors did not affect the index of personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services. (Table 2)
3. Areas Outside National Capital Region (AONCR)
Similar to the trend at the national level and NCR, the deseasonalized CPI for all items in AONCR registered a month-on-month decrease of 0.1 percent in January 2025 from a monthly increase of 0.5 percent in December 2024.
Likewise, a month-on-month decrement was observed in the seasonally adjusted CPI of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels during the month at 0.6 percent from a monthly increment of 0.9 percent in December 2024.
Moreover, slower month-on-month increases were registered in the deseasonalized indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Food and non-alcoholic beverages, 0.2 percent from 0.3 percent;
b. Health, 0.1 percent from 0.2 percent;
c. Education services, 0.2 percent from 0.3 percent;
d. Restaurants and accommodation services, 0.1 percent from 0.2 percent; and
e. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services, 0.1 percent from 0.2 percent.
The seasonally adjusted CPI of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance recorded a month-on-month rate of zero percent in January 2025 from a monthly uptick of 0.3 percent in December 2024.
Meanwhile, the deseasonalized index of clothing and footwear remained at its previous month’s rates of 0.1 percent.
The seasonal factors, such as the degree of demand for selected goods and services, pushed up the indices of the following during the month:
a. All items;
b. Food and non-alcoholic beverages;
c. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels;
d. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance; and
e. Education services.
However, the seasonal factors pulled down the indices of health, and restaurants and accommodation services.
Meanwhile, the seasonal factors did not affect the indices of clothing and footwear, and personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services. (Table 3)
