Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and Non-FBT Items
(NCR and AONCR - July 2010)

  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR and AONCR in July moved at their respective June levels of 154.7 and 168.5.

The inclement weather condition experienced during the month due to typhoon Basyang caused lower supply of vegetables in the wet markets in some of the affected areas in AONCR. Price increases of selected off-season fruits were likewise observed in some regions. These seasonal factors pushed up the general movements of prices of FBT items in NCR and AONCR relative to the expected trend.

Measured a month ago, prices of the seasonally adjusted CPI for FBT items in NCR and AONCR recorded a zero growth in July from their corresponding previous month’s rates of 0.1 percent and -0.1 percent.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR posted at 167.4 and 164.5 in July were lower than their June levels of 167.5 and 164.7, respectively. The lean month of July raised prices of non-FBT items in the two areas relative to the expected trend.
