Release Date: 07 December 2010
Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and Non-FBT Items
(NCR and AONCR - November 2010)
A. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)
The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR was higher at 157.2 in November from 155.2 in October and in AONCR, 171.3 from 170.4.
Seasonal factor like the harvests of palay in November lowered prices of rice in many regions in AONCR. It generally pushed down prices of FBT items in AONCR and NCR relative to the expected trend.
Measured a month ago, increases in the prices of the seasonally adjusted CPI for FBT items in NCR and AONCR climbed to 1.3 percent and 0.5 percent from 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively.
B. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)
The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR correspondingly picked up to 170.7 and 166.0 in November from their last month’s respective levels of 167.9 and 164.9.
The preparations for the coming holiday season resulted to the increase in the production of selected goods during the month. This seasonal factor pulled down prices of non-FBT items in NCR. In AONCR, this seasonal factor however had no effect in the price movements of non-FBT items relative to the expected trend.
Upward adjustments in the prices of seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR were higher at 1.7 percent from -0.2 percent and in AONCR, 0.7 percent from 0.2 percent.
