Seasonally Adjusted Rice Production and Prices, April-June 2017

Release Date:
Reference Number: 2017-186

PRODUCTION

The seasonally adjusted palay production for April-June 2017 was 4. 78 million metric tons, slightly higher by 0.55 percent from the 4. 75 million metric tons output in the first quarter of 2017 (Table 1).

The increment in production was due to higher yield attributed to the usage of high yielding varieties (HYVs) from the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the local government units (LGUs), sufficient water supply and good weather condition during the cropping period. These were noted in most of the regions except for CALABARZON, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and ARMM.
