Central Luzon, Davao Region and Central Visayas recorded the highest expansion in per capita household spending in 2014

The country’s household final consumption expenditures (HFCE), which comprised 69.1 percent of total expenditures, amounted to Php 4,947.0 billion in 2014, 5.4 percent higher than the previous year’s level of Php 4,692.4 billion.
 
Central Luzon posted the highest growth of 9.4 percent, acceleration from its 2013 growth of 5.9 percent. Davao Region and Central Visayas came in second and third at 8.5 and 7.6 percent growth, accounting for 3.9 percent and 6.5 percent of total HFCE, respectively. On the other hand, the region with the least HFCE growth was ARMM with 1.2 percent. NCR remained as the highest spending region on consumer goods and services at Php 1,160.3 billion or 23.5 percent of the national HFCE.
 
Real per capita household spending of Central Luzon, Davao and Central Visayas surpassed the growth of the national per capita household spending at 3.6 percent.
 
Central Luzon ranked first among all 17 regions in the country with the highest increase in per capita household spending. The increase was recorded at 7.4 percent, the fastest among regions with the biggest expansion at 3.4 percentage points from the 4.0 percent growth in 2013.
 
Central Luzon is followed closely by Davao Region and Central Visayas ranked second and third among the 17 regions, which accelerated to 6.6 and 5.9 percent, respectively. These growths also surpassed the national per capita spending of households.
