Government Spending Highest in SOCCSKSARGEN

In 2013, SOCCSKSARGEN Region (Region XII) recorded the fastest growth of 14.0 percent in Government Final Consumption Expenditure (GFCE).  CALABARZON (Region IVA) followed closely at second with 13.5 percent and Central Luzon (Region III) at third with 13.0 percent.  On the other hand, NCR posted the lowest growth at 3.6 percent and ARMM as the second lowest growth at 5.9 percent.
 

 

 

SOCCSKSARGEN contributed 3.0 percent to the total GFCE, spending a total of Php 18.8 billion on goods and services expenditures by the region for 2013. However, this posted a deceleration from previous year’s higher growth of 23.1 percent.
 
The NCR, among all regions, has the highest share which accounted for 49.1 percent or almost half of the total government expenditures. Excluding NCR, the next top three regions namely CALABARZON, Central Luzon and Western Visayas recorded the next highest shares to total government expenditure accounting for 5.9 percent, 5.7 percent and 4.5 percent share, respectively to total GFCE. On the other hand, ARMM, CARAGA and CAR were the regions with the lowest registered shares of 1.7 percent, 1.8 percent and 1.9 percent, respectively.
 
GFCE is one of the components of the Philippines’ Gross Regional Domestic Expenditure or GRDE. GRDE is the sum of all final uses of goods and services in the regional economies during the year.
