As of 31 December 2024, the total carabao inventory was estimated at 2.65 million heads. This indicates a decline of 2.1 percent from its previous year’s same period count of 2.71 million heads. Around 99.3 percent of the country’s carabao population came from smallhold farms, while the remaining 0.5 percent and 0.1 percent were from semi-commercial and commercial farms, respectively. (Figure 2)
As of 31 December 2024, the total cattle inventory reached 2.55 million heads. This indicates a decline of 2.2 percent from the previous year’s same period count of 2.61 million heads. Around 84.7 percent of the country’s cattle population during the period came from smallhold farms, while the remaining 13.2 percent and 2.1 percent were from semi-commercial farms and commercial farms, respectively. (Figure 6)
As of 31 December 2024, the total goat inventory was estimated at 3.73 million heads. This reflects a decrease of 2.5 percent from its previous year’s same period count of 3.82 million heads. Around 99.3 percent of the country’s goat population came from smallhold farms, while commercial and semi-commercial farms both contributed 0.3 percent. (Figure 10)
As of 31 December 2024, the country's total swine inventory was noted at 8.75 million heads. This was 8.5 percent lower from its previous year’s same period count of 9.57 million heads. Around 69.6 percent of the country’s swine population came from smallhold farms, while the remaining 27.6 percent and 2.8 percent were from commercial and semi-commercial farms, respectively. (Figure 14)
As of 31 December 2024, the total count of dairy animals was estimated at 153.73 thousand heads. This indicates a growth rate of 5.5 percent from the previous year’s same period count of 145.75 thousand heads. Of the total dairy animals inventory as of 31 December 2024, the dairy carabao accounted for 53.9 percent. This was followed by dairy cattle with 23.4 percent share and dairy goat with 22.7 percent share. (Figure 18)
As of 31 December 2024, the total chicken inventory reached 206.37 million birds. This was 3.3 percent higher from its previous year’s same period count of 199.83 million birds. Broiler chicken and layer chicken stocks both registered expansions of 15.1 percent and 6.6 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the populations of native/improved chicken and gamefowl for breeding declined by 6.0 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively. (Figure 23)
As of 31 December 2024, the country's total chicken laying flock was estimated at 70.79 million birds. This represents an increment of 4.3 percent from the inventory level of 67.86 million birds in the same period of the previous year. The layer chicken and broiler breeder laying flock inventories expanded by 7.4 percent and 21.9 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the native/improved chicken laying flock inventory recorded a decrease of 4.6 percent. Of the total laying flock, layer chicken shared 61.3 percent. This was followed by native/improved chicken with 31.0 percent and broiler breeder with 7.8 percent share. (Figure 28)
As of 31 December 2024, the total duck inventory was recorded at 13.93 million birds. This was 0.7 percent lower than the previous year’s same period level of 14.03 million birds. Around 70.5 percent of the country’s duck population came from smallhold farms, while the remaining 27.1 percent and 2.4 percent were from semi-commercial and commercial farms, respectively. (Figure 32)
As of 31 December 2024, the total duck laying flock inventory was estimated at 7.92 million birds. This was 0.5 percent higher than the previous year’s same period count of 7.89 million birds. (Table 28)
