As of 30 June 2022, the total laying flock inventory reached 7.95 million birds. This was 12.9 percent higher compared with the previous year’s same period population of 7.04 million birds. Stocks in backyard farms grew by 59.1 percent, while stocks in commercial farms declined by -36.4 percent. Of the total duck laying flock, 72.8 percent were raised in backyard farms while 27.2 percent were from commercial farms.
In terms of laying flock inventory, the top three regions were Central Luzon, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Western Visayas with a total share of 64.8 percent. (Figure 3)
The average farmgate price of duck egg in commercial farms was PhP 7.39 per piece for this quarter. This was 5.9 percent higher than the previous year’s same quarter quotation of PhP 6.98 per piece. (Figure 4)
