Total swine inventory as of 31 March 2022 grew to 9.68 million heads or an increase of 1.2 percent from 9.56 million heads in the same period last year. Population of swine in commercial farms expanded by 5.4 percent, while stocks in backyard farms declined by -0.4 percent. Backyard farms accounted for 70.3 percent of the total swine inventory, while commercial farms comprised the remaining 29.7 percent. (Figure 2)
Western Visayas reported the highest swine population of 1.16 million heads followed by Central Visayas and CALABARZON with 1.10 million heads each.
