All Economies in BARMM Register Growth in 2023; Lanao del Sur Posts the Fastest Growth

All six provinces in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) recorded growths in their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2023 compared to their levels in 2022. Lanao del Sur was the fastest growing province at 5.02 percent. This was closely followed by Maguindanao del Norte with 4.99 percent growth. These two economies registered growth faster than the regional economic performance of 4.3 percent. (Figure 1)

Economic Performance of the Provinces in BARMM

 

Among the provinces in BARMM, Maguindanao del Norte accounted for the biggest share to the GDP of the region with 28.0 percent. This was followed by Lanao del Sur and Sulu with shares of 25.8 percent and 15.9 percent, respectively. (Figure 2)
