Surigao del Norte Records the Fastest Growth in 2023 at 7.2 Percent Among the Economies in Caraga

Surigao del Norte recorded the fastest economic growth in 2023 in Caraga at 7.2 percent from its level in 2022. The City of Butuan and Dinagat Islands followed with growths of 6.6 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively. The three economies posted growths faster than the 4.9 percent growth of the region. Meanwhile, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur also grew, but at a slower pace of 4.1 percent, 3.1 percent, and 2.6 percent, respectively. (Figure 1)

In terms of share to the regional economy, Surigao del Norte had the biggest share accounting for 24.7 percent. Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur followed with shares of 22.4 percent and 19.4 percent. Moreover, City of Butuan, Agusan del Norte and Dinagat Islands accounted for 18.0 percent, 11.7 percent, and 3.7 percent of the region’s economy, respectively. (Figure 2)
