Price Situationer of Selected Agricultural Commodities First Phase of April 2021

Compared with their price levels in the second phase of the previous month (15 to 17 March 2021), increases in the average retail prices of a kilogram of regular milled rice, ranging from PhP 0.04 to PhP 2.67, were observed in 10 regional centers during the first phase of April 2021 (01 to 05 April 2021). On the other hand, its average retail price per kilogram dropped by PhP 0.25 in Cabanatuan City during the period. (Table 1) Increments in the average retail prices of a kilogram of pork with bones, ranging from PhP 10.00 to PhP 50.00, were noted in 10 regional centers during the first phase of April 2021. Meanwhile, its average retail price per kilogram went down by PhP 10.00 in Butuan City, by PhP 15.00 in Digos City, and by PhP 30.00 in San Fernando City (Region 1). (Table 2) The average retail prices of a kilogram of galunggong picked up by PhP 10.00 to PhP 90.00 in 10 regional centers during the first phase of April 2021, from the second phase of March 2021. However, its average retail price per kilogram decreased by PhP 10.00 in Tacloban City, PhP 12.22 in the National Capital Region (NCR), PhP 20.00 in San Fernando City (Region 1), and PhP 30.00 in Cabanatuan City during the period, from their price levels in the second phase of March 2021. (Table 3) Relative to their price levels in the second phase of the previous month, the average retail prices of vegetables were lower in many regional centers during the first phase of April 2021.(Table 4) The average retail prices of red onion declined in 10 regional centers during the period relative to their price levels in the second phase of the previous month. (Table 5) On the average, a kilogram of calamansi registered price cuts, ranging from PhP 1.89 to PhP 20.00, in seven regional centers during the period, from their price levels in the second phase of the previous month. Meanwhile, relative to their price levels in the second phase of March 2021, a kilogram of calamansi went up by PhP 5.00 in both Cebu City and Cotabato City, and by PhP 40.00 in Calapan City. (Table 6) Compared with the second phase of March 2021, changes in the average retail prices of refined and brown sugar in the first phase of April 2021 were noted in six regional centers.
