PSA Board Approves the Updated Milling Recovery Rate of 63.0 Percent from Palay to Rice

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Board approved the adoption of “Updated Milling Recovery Rate of 63.0 Percent from Palay to Rice” during its fourth quarter meeting held on 15 November 2024 at the PSA Press Conference Room 1 and Media Room, 9th Floor PSA Headquarters, PSA Complex, East Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.
The milling recovery rate (MRR) is the ratio of the weight of milled rice to the total weight of palay, which serves as a conversion factor from palay to rice equivalent. The MRR is used in the generation of Rice Stocks Inventory, and compilation of Supply Utilization Accounts (SUA) for rice. The previous MRR from palay to rice is 65.4 percent which is based on the 1995 SUA Handbook.
The PSA implements the use of the updated MRR from palay to rice after the said approval.
