Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and Non-FBT Items
(NCR and AONCR - April 2009)


  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

    The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in NCR remained at its March level of 151.4 while that for AONCR moved up to 164.1 in April from 163.8 in March.

    Seasonal factors such as the on-going harvest season of palay in selected regions pushed down prices FBT items in NCR and AONCR relative to the expected trend.

    The month-on-month inflation of seasonally adjusted CPI for FBT items in NCR was at its last month’s rate of 0.3 percent while that for AONCR slowed down to 0.2 percent from 0.7 percent.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR correspondingly went up to 160.4 and 157.3 in April from their last month’s respective levels of 158.9 and 156.6.

Additions in the prices of seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR went up by 0.9 percent and 0.4 percent in April from -0.3 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively.
