This is the sixth of the eight (8) modular reports of the Agricultural Indicators System (AIS) which provides information on per capita production, per capita net food disposable, and per capita supply of calories, protein and fats of selected agricultural commodities.  Further, this module is supplemented with statistics on the extent of the country’s sufficiency in domestic production and dependency on importation.  The volume on rice and corn stocks also serves as indicator for food security.

The Value of Production in Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries report presents the accomplishments of agriculture and fisheries during a particular reference period. It is at constant 2018 prices and at current prices. The valuation is also done by commodity group (crops, livestock and poultry, and fisheries). These serve as inputs in the estimation of Gross Value Added (GVA) in agriculture and fishery.

The Regional Agricultural Production Accounts report presents the value of agriculture and fisheries in the 16 regions of the country. The value of production is at constant 2018 prices and at current prices. The valuation is also done for the sub-commodity group (crops, livestock, poultry, and fisheries) and commodity. These serve as inputs in the estimation of Gross Value Added (GVA) in agriculture and fishery at the regional level.

The 2020 CPH was a nationwide government undertaking that involved the collection, compilation, evaluation, analysis, publication, and dissemination of data on population count, demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population, housing characteristics, household characteristics, and barangay characteristics in each barangay, city/municipality, province, and region in the country. With reference to the first census in 1903, the 2020 CPH was the 15th census of population and the 7th census of housing in the Philippines.

The stability and growth of a country’s economy hinges on its ability to produce goods and services for both domestic and international use. Labor represents an important factor of production, hence, the improvement of the quality of the labor force, and efforts to make it more productive and responsive to growth are necessary for the development of the economy. A clear knowledge and understanding of the size, composition, and other characteristics of the segment of the population is a big step in this direction. A continuing supply of the data on labor force is indispensable to national and local development planning.
