To meet the demand for granular data on tourism statistics, the Macroeconomic Accounts Service of PSA conducted a series of training workshops for its regional and provincial offices in the past years. In 2019, the PSA’s regional office in the Cordillera Administrative Region piloted the compilation of subnational TSA. In 2022, a Roadmap was crafted to lay down the plans and directions for the generation of TSA for all the regions in the country.  A training workshop was undertaken for the regions in Visayas in 2022, while fora with users and stakeholders were held in March 2023. The remaining regions in Luzon and Mindanao will start compiling the TSA in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

At the national level, PSA compiles the Philippine TSA on an annual basis adopting internationally agreed guidelines and recommendations.  The TSA is a tool to measure the impact of travel and tourism to an economy in the context of the System of National Accounts. It provides macroeconomic aggregates that describe the size and the economic contribution of tourism, detailed data on tourism consumption, detailed production accounts of the tourism industries, and the link between economic data and non-monetary information on tourism.
