Bacolod City: Nine in Ten Had Attended School (Results from the 2000 Census of Population and Housing, NSO)

The total population of Bacolod City, as of May 1, 2000, was 429,076 persons, higher by 26,731 persons over the 1995 Census of Population results. This translated to a 1.39 percent annual population growth rate during the 1995 to 2000 period, lower than the 1.88 percent growth rate in the 1990 to 1995 period. If the annual population growth rate continues, then the population of the city is expected to double in 50 years. Likewise, a corresponding increase on the number of households was also observed, from 78,195 households in 1995 to 87,441 households in 2000. This resulted to an average household size of 4.89 persons, lower than the 5.12 average household size recorded in 1995.

Angeles City: Population Growth Rate Increased by 3.14 Percent Points (Results from the 2000 Census of Population and Housing, NSO)

Angeles City registered a total population of 267,788 persons in the 2000 Census of Population and Housing (Census 2000). This was up by 33,777 persons as compared to 234,011 persons in the 1995 Census of Population (POPCEN).

Young Population Dominated in Zamboanga del Sur (Results from the 2000 Census of Population and Housing, NSO)

The total population of Zamboanga del Sur, as of May 1, 2000, was 1,333,456 persons. This implied an increase of 116,198 persons over the 1995 census figure with an average annual growth rate of 1.97 percent, slightly higher than the average growth rate recorded in 1995 (1.87 percent). A corresponding increase on the number of households was also registered, from 202,548 households in 1995 to 255,621 households in 2000. This resulted to an average household size of 5.21 persons, higher than the national average of five persons.
