Misamis Occidental Posted 9.2-Percent Increase in Both Total and Household Population (Results from the 2007 Census of Population)

Total population grew by 1.23 percent annually

Misamis Occidental had a total population of 531,680 persons as of August 1, 2007, higher by 9.2 percent compared with the census count of 486,723 persons as of May 1, 2000. This increase translated to an annual population growth rate of 1.23 percent for the period 2000 to 2007.

Similarly, the household population of Misamis Occidental increased by 9.2 percent from 485,978 persons in 2000 to 530,662 persons in 2007. The number of households, meanwhile, grew by 12.8 percent from 99,901 in 2000 to 112,650 in 2007. The average household size in 2007 was 4.7 persons, lower than the average household size of 4.9 persons in 2000.

Total population reached more than 300,000 persons

The total population of Iligan City totalling 308,046 persons in 2007, was higher by 8.1 percent from the 285,061 persons reported in 2000. This means that the population of this highly urbanized city grew annually at a rate of 1.07 percent for the period 2000 to 2007, or an increase of 0.14 percentage point from the annual population growth rate of 0.93 percent for the period 1995 to 2000.

Iloilo City: Population Exceeded 400 Thousand (Results from the 2007 Census of Population)

Iloilo City, one of the country's highly urbanized cities posted a total population of 418,710 persons as of August 1, 2007. This registered an increase of 52,319 persons over the total population of 366,391 persons in 2000. These figures translated to an annual population growth rate of 1.86 percent for the period 2000 to 2007.

Cagayan De Oro City Posted an Annual Population Growth Rate of 2.54 Percent (Results from the 2007 Census of Population)

Total population rose to 553,966 persons

Cagayan de Oro City posted a total population of 553,966 persons as of August 1, 2007. This represents an increase of 92,089 persons over the total population of 461,877 persons in 2000. The 2007 figure translated to an annual population growth rate of 2.54 percent for the period 2000 to 2007.

The number of households also rose by 22,699 from 93,525 in 2000 to 116,224 in 2007. This resulted in an average household size of 4.7 persons, a slight decrease from the 2000 average household size of 4.9 persons.

Iloilo: Population Growth Rate Slowed Down to 1.13 Percent (Results from the 2007 Census of Population)

The total population of the province of Iloilo (excluding Iloilo City) as of August 1, 2007 was 1,691,878 persons. This figure was higher by 132,696 persons over the 2000 Census of Population and Housing (Census 2000) population count of 1,559,182 persons. This translated to an annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.13 percent for the period 2000 to 2007, lower by 0.97 percentage point from the 2.10 percent annual PGR posted for the period 1995 to 2000.
