2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry - Administrative and Support Service Activities for Establishments with Total Employment of 20 and Over : Preliminary Results

Private Security Activities industry leads the sector

Preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry showed that a total of 1,331 establishments with total employment of 20 and over were engaged in Administrative and Support Service Activities.

Private security acivities comprised about 464 (34.9 percent) of the total number of establishments. This was followed by establishments engaged in activities of employment placement agencies ranked second with 347 (26.1 percent). Ranked third are establishments engaged in call center activities with 259 (19. 5%). This was followed by cleaning activities, travel agency and tour operator activities and business support activities with 6.5 percent, 4.2 percent and 3.2 percent respectively. Other sectors contributed about 5.6 percent to the total. (See Figure 1)

Restaurants and mobile food service activities dominate Accommodation and Food Service Activities section

Based on the preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) conducted nationwide, with 2010 as the reference year, the Philippines had a total of 3,728 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Accommodation and Food Service Activities. Figure 1 shows that restaurants and mobile food service activities garnered the highest number of establishments at 2,906 (78.0%) followed by short term accommodation activities with 691 establishments or 18.5 percent. Other accommodation recorded the lowest number of establishments with 7 or 0.2 percent only. (Table 1)

Retail sale in non-specialized stores leads among industries

Preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) showed that the Philippines had a total of 4,762 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles. As shown in Figure 1, retail sale in non-specialized stores, garnered the highest with 770 establishments or 16.2 percent of the total number. Retail sale of other household equipment in specialized stores ranked second with 595 establishments (12.5%). A close third was wholesale of household goods with 570 establishments (12.0%). (Table 1)

The preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry revealed that there were 713 establishments with total employment of 20 and over engaged in construction activities (Table 1).

The 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) covered a total of 202 Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air conditioning supply establishments with total employment of 20 and over. Of the total count of establishments, 196 or 97 percent were engaged in electric power generation, transmission and distribution.
