2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) - Real Estate, Renting and Business Activities Sector : Preliminary Results

Among the industry divisions, miscellaneous business activities (K74) like legal, accounting, bookkeeping activities; advertising; investigation and security activities; and related technical consultancy comprised the largest number of establishments accounting for almost three fifths (20,439 or 58.1%) of the total count for the sector. Far next was renting of machinery and equipment without operator; personal and household goods (K71) with 10,234 or 29.1 percent, followed by real estate activities (K70) with 2,963 or 8.4 percent.

The 2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry covered a total of 15,871 Financial Intermediation establishments. Of the total figure, 15,228 establishments or 95.9 percent had an average total employment (ATE) of less than 20. The remaining 643 establishments or 4.1 percent had an average total employment of 20 or more.

The 2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) for transport, storage and communications sector covered 9,276 establishments. Establishments with an average total employment (ATE) of less than 20 employees represented 89.3 percent (8,280 establishments) of the total establishments while the remaining 10.7 percent (996 establishments) were establishments with an average total employment (ATE) of 20 or more.

Establishments engaged in restaurants, bars, canteens and other eating and drinking places dominated the sector with 84,125 or 95.9 percent of the total. On the other hand, 4.1 percent or 3,638 were hotels, camping sites and other provisions of short-stay accommodation. Figure 1 displays the distribution of hotel and restaurant establishments by industry group.

A total of 45,817 establishments were covered in 2005 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) for other community, social and personal service sector. Of the total figure, 98.2 percent or 44,986 establishments had an average total employment (ATE) of less than 20 while the remaining 1.8 percent or 831 establishments had ATE of 20 or more.
