Highlights of the Domestic Trade Statistics in the Philippines First Quarter 2021 (Preliminary)

The total quantity of domestic trade in the first quarter of 2021 was recorded at 4.57 million tons. This represents an annual decrement of -5.3 percent, from a -9.2 percent annual decrease in the previous quarter. In the same quarter of 2020, the annual decline was faster at -27.0 percent. Almost all (99.9%) of the commodities were traded through water (coastwise) while the rest were traded through air. (Figure 1 and Table A)

Highlights of the 2020 Domestic Trade Statistics in the Philippines: Final Results

The total quantity of domestic trade in 2020 was recorded at 16.23 million tons. This represents an annual decrement of -37.3 percent. In 2019, the annual increase was 0.4 percent. Almost all (99.9%) of the commodities were traded through water (coastwise) while the rest were traded through air. (Figure 1 and Table A)

Highlights of the Domestic Trade Statistics in the Philippines Fourth Quarter 2020 (Preliminary)

The total quantity of domestic trade in the fourth quarter of 2020 was recorded at 3.17 million tons. This represents an annual decrement of -38.8 percent, from a -36.2 percent annual decrease in the previous quarter. In the same quarter of 2019, the annual decline was -34.0 percent. Almost all (99.9%) of the commodities were traded through water (coastwise) while the rest were traded through air. (Figure 1 and Table A)

Highlights of the Domestic Trade Statistics in the Philippines Third Quarter 2020 (Preliminary)

The total quantity of domestic trade during the third quarter of 2020 was recorded at 2.29 million tons. This represents a decrease of -61.6 percent from the 5.98 million tons volume of domestic trade posted in the same quarter of 2019. Almost all (99.95%) of the commodities were traded through water (coastwise). On the other hand, the total quantity of commodities traded through air merely made up 0.05 percent of the total. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

Highlights of the Domestic Trade Statistics in the Philippines Second Quarter 2020 (Preliminary)

The total quantity of domestic trade during the second quarter of 2020 was recorded at 1.80 million tons. This represents a drop of 77.8 percent from the 8.11 million tons volume of domestic trade posted in the same quarter of 2019. Almost all (99.98%) of the commodities were traded through water (coastwise). On the other hand, the total quantity of commodities traded through air merely made up 0.02 percent of the total. (Figure 1 and Table 1)
