2012 Census of Philippine Business and Industry - Information and Communication Section for Establishments with Total Employment of 20 and Over: Preliminary Results

The preliminary results of the 2012 Census of Philippine Business and Industry conducted nationwide covered a total of 758 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Information and Communication activities. Computer programming, consultancy and related activities industries lead the section with 287 (37.9%) establishments.

According to the preliminary results of the 2012 Census of the Philippine Business and Industry conducted nationwide, the Philippines had a total of 439 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Other Service Activities. Majority of establishments are engaged in personal services for wellness, except sports activities.

Secondary education sector has the largest number of establishments

Based on the preliminary results of the 2012 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) conducted nationwide, a total of 3,541 establishments engaged in Private Education was covered. As shown in Figure 1, secondary/high school education garnered thehighest number of establishments at 1,510 (42.6%). Higher education followed next with 1,185 (33.5%). Pre-primary/pre-school education had the least number of establishments with only 4.7 percent. Table 1

Support activities for transportation industry leads Transport and Storage Sector

Based on the preliminary results of the 2012 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI), there are 1,000 establishments with Total Employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Transport and Storage sector. Support activities for transportation topped the sector with 423 establishments or 42.3 percent, majority of which were engaged in freight forwarding services and cargo handling, auxiliary activity to water transport comprising 58.2 percent of the total establishments. This was followed by industries engaged in other land transport and transport via buses industries with 236 establishments (23.6%) and 145 establishments (14.5%), respectively. Figure 1 shows the percent distribution of establishments by industry group in 2012.

According to the preliminary results of the 2012 Census of the Philippine Business and Industry conducted nationwide, the Philippines had a total of 353 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Arts, Entertainment and Recreation. As shown in Figure 1, gambling and betting activities garnered the highest number of establishments at 134 (38.0%). Other amusement and recreation ranked second with 105 (29.7%). On the other hand, libraries, archives, museums and other cultural activities recorded the lowest number of establishments with 14 establishments (4.0%). (Table 1)
